Volunteering

Edmonton Public Schools values the partnership of staff, students, parents and community in supporting teaching and learning. Volunteers provide much needed support to our school by working positively and cooperatively with the school team. Volunteers are valuable resources.  They offer support in a variety of areas such as field trip supervision, library and attending School Council meetings.

Edmonton Public Schools believes education is a shared responsibility that requires active engagement of students, staff and parents in the community. In accordance with Administrative Regulation, GBCE.AR, Volunteers – Registration and Records Checks, effective September 1, 2007, all volunteers in district schools shall submit to the principal, each school year,a district Volunteer Registration form.  In addition, the following are required to submit an application for a police records check:

  • volunteer coaches;
  • volunteer chaperones of overnight field trips; and
  • volunteer drivers who, at the request of the school, transport students.
